What does being an UKFRRT Member involve?

In the event of UKFRRT being called to respond to a Mass Fatality Incident, the UKFRRT duty co-ordinator would designate a trained and experienced radiographer to respond and set up the service at the mortuary and would call upon others from the register to assist.  In recent events, (including the Asian Tsunami and 7th July London Bombings) this has enabled us to provide the necessary service and also to invite less experienced members to work along side the more experienced to learn how to complete the investigations to our standards.  We plan to continue to do this to enable us to train new registrants.

Some incidents, particularly those abroad, may only require one radiographer at a time, or perhaps two.  In this situation we would only send experienced members, as it would be unfair to put some one in this situation with out the necessary training.

The time you can commit will depend on your employer and yourself.  Provided that sufficient staff are available, we aim to limit each person’s commitment to seven days for incidents arising in the UK.
