By Lindsay Batty-Smith

Tony Walter has written 9 books concerning death and bereavement. He has researched the sociology of death, dying, bereavement, funerals, pilgrimage and afterlife beliefs. His books are of interest to anthropologists, archaeologists, historians etc but I would venture that this subject would be of great interest and value to all in the Forensic field. Titles include: The Sociology of Death-on bereavement:the culture of grief, Buckingham & Philadelphia: Open University Press, 1999 The Eclipse of Eternity-a sociology of the afterlife, Basingstoke:Macmillan, New York:St Martin's Press, 1996 The Revival of Death, London & New York: Routledge 1994,228pp
