UK & US forensic teams aid in airline crash victim identification

A team of British and American forensic experts is heading to Cameroon to help identify the victims of a Kenya Airways crash earlier this week.

The Boeing 737-800 went down in bad weather shortly after takeoff from Douala, Cameroon. The remains of 81 people have been recovered from the site, which was located in a swampy, brush-covered area not far from where it took off. The wreckage of the plane was recovered on Monday after a 40-hour search.

Officials say 114 people were on board the plane, and the names of 96 of those have been released. The next of kin for 18 passengers have yet to be notified, officials told the Angola Press.

The British and American teams joins a group of Kenyan forensic experts and Cameroon investigators who will work to identify the victims using DNA analysis.
