Plans for Texas "Body Farm" put on holdMay 9, 2007 Texas State University's plan to build a 'body farm' has been put on hold over concerns that buzzards could endanger planes at the nearby San Marcos Municipal Airport. The university had proposed creating what would be the third such location in the U.S., where cadavers would be buried. The 17-acre site would be used by scientists to study the cadaver decomposition to help police better determine time and manner of death at crime scenes. The university has begun scouting new sites when it was learned that buzzards could pose a threat to planes flying nearby, CNN reported.. The University of Tennessee has operated a body farm since 1980 in Knoxville. Western Carolina University opened the nation's second such facility last year. Source: CNN Comments (0)No comments. |
