AGM agrees name change

A resolution proposing a change of name to "The International Association of Forensic Radiographers" was approved unanimously at the Annual General Meeting of the Association held in London on 20th September 2008.

The change of name, proposed by the committee and supported by Prof Gil Brogdon, patron of the association was adopted in order to reflect the increasingly international nature of the association. John Beamer, AFR chair remarked "with increasing numbers of members in the United States, The Irish Republic, Canada and in many other countries around the world, AFR has established itself as the pre-eminent organisation representing the professional interests of radiographers and radiologic technologists in this field."

A sub-group of the Irish Institute of Radiography is already affiliated to AFR, and discussions are underway to formally establish a similar group in the USA.
