Radiographers represented at AAFSApril 17, 2008 Washington DC hosted the 60th annual meeting of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences in February this year. The Academy meeting was attended by over 6,000 delegates representing all branches of forensic science. Delegates were treated to a comprehensive programme of lectures and events spread over 7 days across the several subject areas including: pathology, odontology, anthropology and general forensic science at which this year there were a number of presentations by radiographers. AFR committee member Mark Viner, and AFR USA co-ordinator Nancy Adams presented scientific papers which were well received by attendees. Both Nancy and Mark together with Jerry Conologue are the first radiographer AAFS members, and took the opportunity presented by the conference to meet with AFR patron Gil Brogdon and member Tanya Blyth to discuss the development of AFR in the United States. "We have made a start towards promoting the role of the radiographer within the forensic arena at this conference and I hope that we can build upon this in future years" said Nancy. "I would encourage radiographers to join AAFS and attend this conference" said Mark. "It really is a fantastic forum for learning and offers radiographers the opportunity to demonstrate the effective contribution that we can make to forensic investigation" Jerry Conologue, Nancy Adams, Mark Viner, Tanya Blyth and Professor Gil Brogdon take a welcome break from conference proceedings.
