AGM approves change of name to The International Association of Forensic Radiographers

College of Radiographers and AFR joint study day.
Saturday 20th September 2008 saw the annual joint study day of the College of Radiographers (CoR) and the Association of Forensic Radiographers (AFR) take place at King’s College Waterloo campus in London. This year’s conference was based around implementing best practice in forensic radiography and had a wide range of speakers from various clinical and forensic backgrounds.

College of Radiographers and AFR publish new forensic radiography guidelines

The Society and College of Radiographers today published new guidelines for forensic radiography. The guidance document, "Guidance for Radiographers Providing Forensic Radiography Services" has been produced in collaboration with the Association of Forensic Radiographers and replaces the previous 1998 guidance. The document has been completly revised and rewritten and includes several new sections. It is published in interactive format on the members section of the SCoR website www.sor.org and in pdf format on the members section of the AFR website. For further information click here.

New X-Ray fingerprint analysis method opens cold cases
Forensic researchers at Leicester University have developed a new method that uses X-rays to detect microscopic corrosion caused by chemicals left by fingerprint residue. This new research will be used to reopen and analyse evidence left in cold cases. To read the full text, go to mirror.co.uk
