Strategic Plan For Education & Training Sub-Committee

IAFR Forensic Conference

To hold forensic in Manchester in September 2009 covering advances in human identification.  Both patrons, Baroness Golding and Prof Gil Brogden have confirmed attendance at this event

UKFRRT Training

To develop UKFRRT training in conjunction with the home office.  This will be a 2 day event that will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of mass fatality radiography.  Theory day would include introduction to UK DVI, health & safety, who’s who, welfare, continuity of evidence, paperwork, elements of mass fatality radiography, FiMag and how the assessment process will work.  Practical day will include the use of all the available home office equipment and techniques used in elements of mass fatality radiography.  Assessment for theory & practical training is required with set criteria as well as a pass & fail rate.

Strategy For On-Line Learning

This will be in the form of quizzes initially.  This will start with questions on the recently published forensic guidelines, which has a publication date for the end of July.  This will be followed up by questions relating to NAI which will be published on the website by the end of September.  Number of hits to the documents can be monitored to enable us to assess how useful this is to members.  Answers will also be published on the website.

On-Line Presentations

Presentations for use by committee members will be added to the website.  Individual users will be asked to convert the presentation to the IAFR template before using and presenting.  This template will be updated to incorporate the new logo.

Possible Belfast Study Day

This is to be investigated into.  Further enquiries to be made regarding the target audience, expected numbers, content and the required learning outcomes.
